2008 Meeker Classic
Judge – Angie Coker-Sells
Angie Coker-Sells was raised on a cattle ranch in central Oklahoma. An
early love for horses lead her to compete in cutting horse competitions from
junior high through college. It was through the cutting horses she had her
first encounter with Border Collies and an immediate connection and was
made.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree in
Animal Science, Angie moved to a cattle ranch in eastern Oklahoma and became
involved in training Border Collies and competing in sheepdog trials.
In 1997, she won the USBCHA National Nursery Championship with Sam and the
very next year returned to win the 1998 USBCHA National Nursery Championship
with Jen, in addition to wining the 1998 USBCHA Reserve National Open
Championship with Sweep as well as wining the Meeker Reserve Championship.
In 1999 she won the prestigious Meeker Classic with Sweep. 2000 was a
special year, where she won both the USBCHA National Open Championship with
Sam and the USBCHA Reserve National Open Championship with Sweep.
Angie has been judging since 1997 and was honored to be the first U.S. Woman
to judge the USBCHA/ABCA National Finals in Sturgis, South Dakota in 2003
and again in 2005.
Angie currently lives in Tecumseh Oklahoma with her husband Scott on their
ranch where they raise cattle, sheep, goats and horses and is enjoying
working and training dogs.
She is shown here with her dog Bill.
